After Hiroshima and Nagasaki and after Japanese fishermen were injured (I think some died) during a U.S. nuclear test explosion in the Pacific (despite the fact that they were told they were a safe distance¬¨), most Japanese didn’t want much to do with anything nuclear. But, the U.S. under the Eisenhower administration was concerned about the Soviet Russians, gaining as they were in nuclear capabilities. So, the U.S. helped to get the release of imprisoned Japanese war criminals who then became U.S. political allies in the Japanese government and who then aided the administration’s “atoms for peace” policy, which is only a front for the policy of containing the presumed Soviet expansion. ‚Ķ So, here we are today enduring the past successes of US policies abroad.
