U.S. official: Russia’s attack on Georgia is ‘disproportionate’

By | August 10, 2008

Russia’s use of strategic bombers and ballistic missiles against Georgia’s civilians outside of the South Ossetian conflict is “far disproportionate” to Georgia’s alleged attack on Russian peacekeepers, a senior U.S. official said Saturday.

… Russia’s use of its potent air weaponry signals a “severe” and “dangerous escalation in the crisis,” the official said. “For the life of me, I can’t image that being a proportionate response to the charge that Georgia has attacked Russian peacekeepers,” the official said. “It’s hard for us to understand what Russia’s plan is here.”

The official said Russia is probably trying to destabilize Georgia politically to kill its chances of joining NATO. – cnn

Your mass media and government disinformate you. Georgia attacks South Ossetia in deep night. Hundreds of civil people have been killed in first hour… Georgians military forces shoot in women and children, finish injured peacekeepers and civil. Georgia continue to escalate a conflict. Their actions are genocide of Ossetian nation. South Ossetia is destroyed.

P.S. Russia (and Ossetia) always treat with respect and friendship to georgians. And this conflict must be finished. Saakashvili is at fault in dead of thousands ossetians and georgians.

To all thinking people around the world. Brothers, every person, even deep in his heart, votes for the truth and justice. Just watch russian channels, read osetian sites, treat the situation open-minded, and you will see who IS responsible for the tragedy and what is the real answer of Russia to the cruel Saakashvili’s crime. His aim was to wape out osetian people, as he doesn’t care for them, he wanted to rase to the ground people for the sake of ‘territorial integrity’ which osetians ‘hinded’. If somebody don’t believe – come on, see it with your own eyes. Come on, send foreign observes, it is chicken-livered just to passively eat the information that your ‘independent’ mass media get only from one source – georgian authorities!!! I am not ‘bbc’ or ‘cnn’, and i am convinced that it is extremely unprofessional. Again: dig for the truth, and God bless you.

Go Russia! Push on to Tbilisi, smash the Georgian fascist army and put Saakashvili’s head on a pike.

The Caucasus will be better off without the evil little dictator embedded in the Georgian presidency like a blood-scikng tick.

Surpising how “selective” BBC and CNN are in choosing information from interfax and other source for their reports picking just what is Gorgia and US supportive and blindly ignoring anything which is out of this view.

Russians dont want any war. The US goverment is behind of almost all wars and conflicts in the world for the last decade. This war is not exception. Wouldnt you agree?

People of the world. You deceive! World mass media conduct propagation of a false information. Russia DID NOT ATTACK Georgia! 07.08.2008 at 22:00 Georgia has attacked South Ossetia. At 3:30 08.08.2008 tanks of the Georgian armies have entered into city Tskhinvali. Artillery bombardment all the day long proceeded, fights with use of tanks and heavy combat material, both against ossetic armies, and against peace inhabitants were conducted. 1400 civil people already were lost. The Russian peacemakers have arrived to South Ossetia in the evening 08.08.2008 for settlement of the conflict and prompting of the world in republic and protection of the Russian citizens living on territory of South Ossetia. Georgia has attacked South Ossetia on eve of Olympiad, it is top of cruelty and cynicism. Proofs and video-materials look on Russian news portals. We shall tell is not present to WAR!!!

What are you talKing about? Even elementary school pupils knows that it is no any matter to use ballistic missiles without nuclear warhead, othervise it becomes “disproportionate” expensive. If this “offitials” lyes in such a clear thing, why should we believe them?

Hey, don’t forget who sold Georgia military weapons and don’t forget who is supposedly “helping” Georgia build her military defenses.

Hint: It’s the same people who want Georgia to join NATO and have absolutely no idea what international diplomacy means!

I was away for a few days. Thank you for all the comments about this CNN article.

It is sad humans sometimes lack the imagination, compassion and intelligence needed to resolve conflicts without killing each other.
