How to find the name of a song if you only know the tuneI didn’t think it could be done, but I found a free iPhone app that was able to quickly tell me the name of a classical tune, of which I was only able to hum a few bars. First I tried paying the notes on a piano for it, but had no luck… But humming worked. The tune was something I heard on a Bug Bunny cartoon when I was a kid. I vaguely recalled that there was hair cutting going on in the cartoon … So, when I saw the title, “The Barber of Seville” by Rossini, I knew that was it.

The app: SoundHound (free version). Give it a try if you have an iPhone.
