Did the CIA Lie to Congress? About what?

By | July 9, 2009

Leon PanettaThe head of the CIA has admitted concealing “significant actions” from the US Congress over the past eight years, according to several Democrat members of the House intelligence committee.

Leon Panetta’s testimony was made behind closed doors, but yesterday the details of a letter written by Democrats to the intelligence chief discussing his committee appearance said the CIA had “misled members”.

Rush Holt, one of the signatories, would not identify the classified matter the CIA has been accused of lying about but said: “We wouldn’t be doing this over a trivial matter.” …

In May the House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, accused the agency of intentionally misleading her by not telling her in a 2002 briefing about its use of waterboarding against a terrorism suspect. – guardian

Central Intelligence Agency Director Leon E. Panetta has told lawmakers that the agency “concealed significant actions” from Congress, according to a letter released Wednesday from seven Democratic lawmakers,” the Wall Street Journal writes. “The letter also contends that Mr. Panetta said CIA officials have misled Congress since 2001.” – msnbc

“Recently you testified that you have determined that top CIA officials have concealed significant actions from all members of Congress, and misled members for a number of years from 2001 to this week,” said the letter, signed by Eshoo and six other House Democrats — Reps. John Tierney of Massachusetts, Mike Thompson of California, Rush Holt of New Jersey, Alcee Hastings of Florida, Adam Smith of Washington and Janice Schakowsky of Illinois. The mainstream press is focused on Pelosi and waterboarding, but isn’t the real point that torture was used to frame people for the attacks of 9/11? How far down the rabbit hole did Panetta lay this secret egg?

It’s more than a little obvious that Panetta got orders from Team Obama to cover for Queen Nancy’s BS-spree… but their are other centers of power at Langley that won’t stand for this rubbish.

Pelosi was every bit as informed on the decision to us EITs as were the GOP… but is now lying about it in an attempt to appease the antiwar left and fulfill specious campaign posturing.

And apparently Pelosi and Obama forgot something: the CIA KILLS people… it’s in their job description. Did these two really think that these killers were going to just meekly take-one-for-the-team… when the team captain is a lying, incompetent, arrogant nebbish who has basically told them they need to kiss his ring? -please

Obama really kicked an ant hill with his ill-advised and politically motivated release of Bush Administration memos regarding EITs.

Let’s have a hearing and get it all out there, shall we? Then watch the rats scatter who attacked Bush for protecting the country from terrorist attack… but who clearly knew what was going on five years before we heard a peep out of them.

RR, Are you saying that the CIA may kill Pelosi or Obama? I think the Secret Service would have a problem with that! The idea is preposterous. I’ve heard stories, but as far as I know the CIA does not kill Americans, not on purpose anyway. Besides, it seems that Obama has been a real team player in many ways. Afghanistan, Pakistan, Gitmo, Israel, etc. I do agree that there are various centers of power with different views. A hearing with everything out in the open would be interesting. Those memos were already leaked, right? I feel the same way about 9/11 as I do about UFOs, Bigfoot, or any other mystery: Not entrenched. Follow the facts and let the evidence decide.
